Ringgit opens higher against US$ Thursday, weakens against others


KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit opened higher against the US dollar Thursday as the greenback lost ground after the US Federal Reserve (Fed) expanded loan fees on Wednesday. 

At 9 am(0100gmt), the nearby note was exchanged at 4.4300/4350 against the greenback from Wednesday's end of 4.4460/4500. 

A merchant said the ringgit bounced back in spite of the Fed raising loan fees by 25 premise focuses to a scope of 0.75 for each penny to 1.00 for every penny Wednesday. 

"The rate climb was generally expected and was at that point considered into the market. It is not an unexpected move," she said.
