Five men who held a cash changer for RM3 million payoff in Bukit Jambul here two weeks prior were accused of kidnapping at the Magistrate's Court here today.

T Shasitaran, 32, M Ashogan, 33, Mohamad Sultan Ahmad Kabil, 37, Ong San Chia, 31, and Yeoh Shyh Ming, 27, were charged under Section 3(1) of the Kidnapping Act 1961 for wrongful restriction for payment.

The charge conveys a capital punishment upon conviction.

They were blamed for submitting the offense in Jalan Rumbia, outside the casualty's Crystal Gardens Apartment somewhere around 10.30am and 10.45am on Sept 28.

No requests were recorded and judge Mohamad Amin Shahul Hamid settled Dec 14 for mention.Deputy open prosecutor Nurul Fatin Hussin arraigned while Mathan Anandaram showed up for Ong and Yeoh.

In the Sept 28 occurrence, the casualty was dragged into a van as he was going to advance toward an outside trade outlet at the Bukit Jambul complex, not a long way from his home.

The casualty was then taken to the leased condo where he was held hostage, and approached to contact his family for payment.

Police figured out how to find one of the hijackers after the family held up a report. The others were gotten after the man was addressed.
